Mr. Lustenhouwer, thank you very much for the time you put into providing us with great information. We truly appreciate it. Mr, Lustenhouwer, what kind of surface do you prefer to paint on? I have noticed the use of linen among some portrait painters. Is the type of surface highly significant, and can a painter use different surfaces for different effects? Thank You
Ben, you are not only a great artist, but also a smart person, which is rather strange in this regard 🤔😜.
Thank you for your sharing. I am a student artist and I have learnt so much from your videos.
Thank you for showing the materials. I have a question-if you can answer. I previously saw one of your portrait videos(I can't remember which one) where near the end, you took the painting out of the studio and hung it near an outdoor opening. Then it appeared that you used some sort of liquid that you atomized with your breath and it covered the painting. What was that item? Some sort of clear shellac or preservative?
Exist a kind of brush on chinese stores is a set of 5 brushes from the brand Ypingxuan very similar to these " Cat storm ". I don`t know if you can find at your country, anyway ask them. I hope i could help.
a great help for my own artworks.. thank s
It's actually Cat's Tongue, Mr960silva, although Cat storm sounds more fun.
i want to ask how do you clean the brushes?
I would like to know, what kind of medium do you use to clean the the brushes during the painting process. Thanks.
Old Holland is the best there is, but I cannot work with it. Indeed it is too stiff.
Geachte heer Lustenhouwer, As a beginner in Oil painting (and my budget) I use Van Gogh Student Grade Oil paints. I bought only the 10 pack of 20 ml's to try out... If it's something I can stick too. Acrylics (Amsterdam student grade) are perfect, but dries soooo fast that I haven't finished 1 painting out of frustration. I will be using them ofcourse but I feel drawn to oil paintings. I love the old masters work; and my first project I started with acrylics was, The three skulls from "Paul Cezanne"... Can I paint with oil, on top of it? + I use the terpentine/white spirit (de-aromatized from the Action_like the wallmart)... giving me headaches already. So I invested in linseed oil from winsor and Newton... But it's the Linseed Stand Oil.... Any advice on that? I am so sorry for bombarding you with these questions. I just can't get myself to painting and it's easier to grab my charchoal or graphite pencils and draw instead. But I really want to do this. I Know I can do this. Thank you so much in advance... For ever grateful lieve Meneer Lustenhouwer. Blessings to all of you <3 😇🙏🌻
In proper english it is Cat´s tongue. In Double Dutch it´s Cat storm. Poor me in my broken English!
Thank you:)
Ha! I didn't catch Cat storm in the video, I though Mr960silva had misunderstood, but it seems I was the one who misunderstood. Your English is excellent anyway, don't be modest, Ben.
whats good to seal in a drawing to start painting
Please let me know a website to buy "REMBRANDT" oil paints
How about Old Holland? I suppose you don't like it because of its stiff quality. It seems that many painters who work in a loser more painterly style go for Talens Rembrandt.
very helpful :)
