Notes from Gary, founder of Aspire Christian Music. PLEASE EXPAND THIS SECTION TO READ MORE. This song woke me up, and that’s why I’m bringing it to all of you. If you’re reading this far, then you might have some questions, so let me answer them. First, this song is written and performed by Alvin Cedric, a young man from Europe. Alvin has been one of my YouTube friends for more than 3 years now. He’s been making Christian lyric videos for more than 4 years, so that makes him the most industrious young man that I have ever known. That’s for starters. He now writes, produces and performs material as an independent recording artist.

This is a young man reaching out to others with modern language and media. While you’re not going to find direct quotes from the New King James translation in here, you will find that the lyrics to this song are packed with scriptural concepts. Please let me guide you through just a sampling. You will find the annotation numbers adjacent to the lyrics as published in the caption to the video.

[1] Concept, song theme and title, reversing a bad attitude toward life and seeing that it is “better than it seems”: John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I (Jesus) have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

[2] Concept of facing salvation or getting left behind: Matthew 24:40, “Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left.”

[3] Concept of what we do (or don’t do) on Earth showing up in heaven:
Matthew 6:19-21, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

[4] Concept of “the spark has only just begun”: 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

[5] Concept of overcoming the world by being born of God: 1 John 5:4, “For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.”

[6] Concept of overcoming the world by being born of God: John 16:33, “I (Jesus) have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

[7] Concepts of lukewarm faith, falsity, refinement by fire, salvation, eternal life and listening to the Spirit about backsliding: Revelation 3:15-22, “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne. Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

[8] Concepts of refinement by fire and momentary suffering before the revelation of Jesus Christ, 1 Peter 1:5–7, “who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”
