I think this is fairly easy to conclude. Since these coyotes have no real competition at this sanctuary. They have never been hunted or injured by humans so they have no fear of humans by this time. So if you have a few dominant coyotes that have never been harmed or threatened by humans then it's easy for them to decide to attack a human. They probably smelled the fear in the girl and of course the fight or flight choice would have been easy to conclude. These particular coyotes are called Eastern Coyotes and have wolf DNA in them. I think it's fairly obvious that with the wolf DNA and their larger size and the girls fear along with the coyotes mixing with wolves made them hunt in a pack, like wolves and they just found an easy meal. What a shame that a young girl with a promising future had to be their victim. God bless her and her family.
why was the washroom locked ;she would probably have survived
coyote experts my butt! it happened to have a walk aroound a park in a morning and a coyote was trailing me..it was not scared and run away only after I have tossed couple of big rocks I am male 220 lb 1.80 m
I can take a guess as to why that poor girl doubled-back on the trail towards the access road. She was already being stalked by the one large male. She noticed him and in her attempt to get away, she unfortunately walked right into the path of the other two. I feel nothing but sympathy for her...💔
Why is there no memorial put up for this poor woman? We went to the skyline trail last week, and there was nothing. I thought there might have been at least a bench donated in her name or something. I think it's so disrespectful that all they did was put coyote warning signs up and called it a day. Come on, nova scotia!
This is sad but it is also a reminder that we as humans are not the top of the food chain in the wild.
I don’t understand why this entire NTL Geographic documentary is talking about Coyotes….they were Coywolves which are much more aggressive, smarter and dangerous than your average coyote.
Just in the last week America has seen a lone coyote attack a child who was walking VERY closely to two grown adults and other kids- the toddler was protected by the snowsuit, but the father was forced to kill the coyote with his bare hands in a ten minute long fight. The father suffered bites and was given rabies shots as a precaution.
First Rip to Taylor, that poor girl. Coyotes are everywhere on Pennsylvania. My sister was chased by 3 of them cutting through a small wooded patch, while walking home from work. We live in a city with 25,000 people and very little woodland. This patch of woods was way less rural this area.
I'm from Germany and often hike and camp alone in the wilderness of the American Southwest. One day I hiked in a remote forest of Northern New Mexico when I heard a pack of coyotes howling not far from where I was hiking. I immediately turned around and hiked back as fast as I could. You might be able to fight one single animal but not a pack.
Very sad end for a gorgeous and talented young woman. In the words of a great historical figure, “walk softly, and carry a big stick!”
Rest in the light, princess💙🕯💙Canada misses you💙
AND WHY DIDNT THEY TELL HER THEY SAW COYOTES.
What a sad and unfortunate tragedy- that didn't have to happen... A large canister of bear spray would have been a great tool, or even a decent sized knife (Canadians are Subjects, not Citizens- so they can't carry handguns, and long guns probably aren't allowed in that park). It makes me sad that just across the border from my Montana, the Canadians have such limited rights, i.e., firearms; they're just tools- like a flashlight or screwdriver.
When I hear of predators attacking human females, I have to wonder if the female was on her monthly menstrual cycle. They can smell the blood. There was no mention of that possibility in the video.
A coyote killed someone? That is very rare.

So sad. She was a lovely young lady.
An hour flight? Where were they flying to? Europe? A young woman alone in a national park? What could possibly go wrong?
