@FAMarlowe

I lived less than a half a mile from the Jersey Devil house for 12 years and heard those ungodly screams all the time. They were foxes. A fox screams to communicate with other foxes. It's called a vixen scream.

@spytung

I grew up in Pine Barrens. Definitely no one I knew would go out at night because there’s a creepy feeling. Total darkness in most places.

@miask

I grew up in southern NJ. When I was little, if you stayed out after dark, the elders would tell you to get indoors or the Jersey Devil would get you. Awhile ago, I heard that a State Trooper says he saw it.

@sethgardner4453

27:43 This dude so full of it 😂

@brandonseyfried1251

As a Jersey kid in the early 70s we were shown a black and white movie in school. It was called Mother Leeds' 13th Child, made probably in the early 60s, and it scared the living shit out of us. I was terrified of it growing up. As an adult I got a copy of the book Weird NJ. I read the section on the Jersey Devil and about sightings in the late 80s, and how police actually shot at it in 1909. That just made it worse.

@JamesRobinson-z3c

As a Jersey boy born and raised, you know never to want to encounter the Jersey Devil and you DON’T EVER touch the Devil’s Tree.

@alysskennedy8661

We all love to believe in town legends. I’m a lifelong Jersey resident. I love this shit. We go out to the pine barons every summer to swim. There’s a beautiful man made lake out there. The blue hole. The water it’s tropical looking.

@Burori1

"They say that everytime you see the Jersey Devil, a war is coming." That tells me very little. There's always a war.

@Absolute_Goblin

The Jersey Devil? I compromised. I ate grilled cheese off the rattiatuh (radiator.)

@bearnunnemaker5453

My uncle and I saw the Jersey Devil in 1979. I had a summer job with my uncle when I was a sophomore at Pemberton Township High School. We were driving thru the Pine Barrens about 1 AM. It flew out of the trees right in front of us!! Uncle Dave almost wrecked trying to avoid the dang thing!!! I just about peed my pants!!

@jemshadow123

I love how it runs across the road as soon as the camera isn't fixed on the road..

@SGTXSAVAGE

Im a direct decendent of the leeds family that the legend comes from… my ancestors were accused of occult practices…my folks still live a block away from Leeds point… there’s definitely something in the air at night down there… heard stories from family members my whole life, ive never seen it myself… but there is something very creepy about that area… im also related to ken sooy by marriage, cool to see him in this video

@r.watson7672

friggin purdy  lol

@bethg.5611

There's a huge horned owl. The scream could have been a screech and they mentioned that it hopped. Owls do that.

@TheRscorp

8:32 - Congratulations on ruining the entire documentary.

@kaiagriffin5227

A guy called “The Explained Universe” literally stole this entire video but replaced the thumbnail with a picture of the goat man, he didn’t change a single thing

@gabrieldevoogel6225

The way she describes it along with the human tendency to exaggerate makes me believe we’re dealing with a 6-8 foot tall creature with massive wings, the capability to cause minor lacerations at BEST, a massive wingspan of probably close to 12 feet, this thing would be an incredible find for science

@jessicalundgren6413

"Someday in the late fall listen carefully when you hear the wind coming off the ocean through the pines. It almost seems someone is trying to tell us something, possibly someone's name. ***In his best spooky voice ***Old mother Leeds, old mother Leeds."
It would be a challenge to take him seriously as a professor after seeing that clip. Any guesses on what he teaches?

@mecahhannah

Cool stories love legends and myths regardless if they are real or not they're interesting

@CwL-1984

I have seen this episode many times and it never gets old.
