I have been living the ketogenic lifestyle now two years. I have maintained my normal weight of 111 pounds. I only eat Whole Foods and never any prepackaged Keto foods. I gave up sodas cold Turkey 25 years ago and never tried diet sodas. I am 61 years old and everyone thinks I am not a day over 45.

@maidenminnesota1

The big mistake so many people make (due to lots of misinformation) is that as your weight goes down, you need to reduce the fat in your diet, too, because you want your body to burn YOUR fat, not the fat you eat. You need to replace the fat macros with protein macros as your weight drops. This also naturally reduces calories, as you don't need as many to maintain bodily functions as your weight goes down.

@RealOzPhantom

I've never had issues with any of the foods mentioned in this video for two main reasons: resistance training and OMAD. If the intermittent fasting is there, it's a massive difference

@Trogdor1365

As a note: if you are just starting your low carb journey, if the processed keto food and keto desserts and diet soda helps you stay on the diet, then keep them. You'll be able to wean yourself off of them later, once you're motivated by the weight loss and craving carbs less.

Yes Yes Yes!! I was stalled for the last 4 months and gained a few lbs. I stopped using heavy cream, cut back on butter and cheese and I have finally broken my stall. Great video! Thank you! ❤

@Cyber_Peacock

16 weeks Keto and Muscle Training and I've lost 47 lbs 💪🏿

@katydai

I do "Kinda-Keto" - low sugar lower carbs but definitely not hard-core. I do intermittent fasting and have lost 60lb in one year! I am no longer pre-diabetic, my acid reflux went away and my joints don't hurt anymore! I love this lifestyle!

@misterscruffle

This is exactly what I needed to hear, I’ve not been losing weight because I’m eating too many keto calories. You hit on points that I intuitively knew but decided to ignore because my excuse was “it’s keto”. But I often feel inflammation and bloated after eating those things you mentioned.

@giaohoabeta5474

#1: heavy cream- high calories
#2: cheese - some bad effect to your body
#3: butter - no need more fat from butter
#4: diet coke - more hungry if you drink it, high pressure on the blood vessels and the blood pressure increase
#5: packaged keto foods - this can have some unhealthy ingredients
#6: keto sweets and desserts
#7: raw broccoli- high amounts of insoluble fiber, cooked broccoli still okay

@mommab8205

I just started keto in June. 30 lbs gone so far. My go-to sweet treat from the beginning is just enough two-good mixed berry yogurt to thinly coat 1/4 cup of blueberries with a tablespoon of whipped cream...As I lose weight, I know it will also have to go. But for now, it has tremendously helped me with my sweet tooth! I knew from the beginning all the keto desserts were for people who had already lost weight and then only occasionally. I know the sodas have to go also; I'm just not ready...I already had to give up coffee. I can't drink it unless sweetened. Little keto baby steps.

@chris_losin_it

Finally! I’m so happy to see this video 👏🏼 👏🏼
I have the hardest time explaining to my friends and family that try or are on keto, why I don’t eat certain things even if they are “keto friendly”.
Being on keto/low carb/ ketovore for 4 1/2 years, I’ve done so much research. To be honest, reading the ingredients list on some of the things that say “keto” makes me nauseous. Ultimately, like you said, it has to be something that works for you and your goals. I didn’t start out this way and I’ve definitely tweaked my eating a few times over the years as I’ve gained valuable information.

Total weight loss since starting keto is 113 lbs. total from my heaviest ever is about 144 lbs. I’m 57 😀

@debmurray2734

Loved the clip where the lemon wedge is slathered with butter. Good tips for using good judgment when ingesting "keto-approved" foods. Thanks!

@lainimitchell6312

I've been kicking around the idea of quitting diet Dr. Pepper. Thank you for pointing out the correlation between poor gut health and depression. I've been struggling with that. Maybe healing my gut will heal my 'heart'.

@CarbageMan

That's a pretty good list. Thanks for sharing it.

Even then, after five years, I'm pretty much high-protein, low-carb, and rarely in deep ketosis. I think my body has just gotten good at using ketones so they rarely show up deeply in my blood unless I fast over a day and get a lot of cardio. I'm good with that, actually, as long as my glucose stays low, or if it spikes it doesn't spike too high and stay up long. At this point that's what matters most to me.

I've taken to severely limiting cheese and nuts, and pretty much all processed "keto" food is basically a trap or otherwise an issue for me. 95% of the time, I make something wildly simple that's mostly meat and a little cruciferous or very keto-friendly veg. I do get an avocado just about every day in the world that's not a whole day of fasting. After a workout, I allow myself a collagen shake with berries and aminos, and I can see my glucose go right up and right back down.

I've avoided keto bread and tortillas (I make pretty simple keto sandwich thins for burgers), but I have to admit a couple times a year I like to pick up a pack of keto hot dog buns into which I can put clean, 100% grass-fed polish sausages from Teton Waters Ranch. It's too bad I can't find clean buns, because they're just too much of a hassle to try to make, and I've never found a great recipe anyway.

PS: Sometimes, I'll just make a "bunless polish sandwich" instead, with the polish sausages, caraway, a slice of swiss and top with deli mustard and sauerkraut. I eat that out of a small casserole dish with a knife and fork.

@BurbankKid

I tried the ultra low carb for a time but found that I was getting weak, no energy whatsoever. As soon as I raised the amount of carbs I started feeling much better and still maintained my desired weight. Everything in moderation people. You have to change up from time to time so that your body doesn’t adapt. The more strict you are the worse it gets. Every one’s body chemistry is different, you have to find a healthy medium that works for you.

@MrJimmylats

I have been following IF and Keto for a few years now and I have lost a lot of weight (-170lbs). I credit IF for most of it but I found Keto really helps control my inflammation. I went from at least 2 parts of my body being in constant pain on any given day to zero. Your video (which was great!) just made me look into why I get a stuffy nose after I eat dairy and it is likely inflammation! Not severe enough to make my wrists and hands or knees shut down but enough that I can't breathe through my nose for a couple of hours (and if it is doing that then there is definitely inflammation going on elsewhere in my body). I am going to cut out dairy for a few days and see how it goes. Thanks!

@SRose-vp6ew

I also noticed I need to watch my heavy cream intake. By measuring just one tablespoon into my 1 cup of coffee a day it was just enough to push me back into weight loss versus being stagnant. If I wanted more than that I had to workout for it.

@amandaredd3057

This is great and very informative. I "tried" keto before but only a couple weeks ago watched Dr Berg break it all down and I realized I did NOT do it correctly! Now, I got a hang on it and I'm actually seeing incredible benefits. I'm on week 3 and I feel great!

@mariannerayo8608

Thank you. I have been on clean keto (one ingredient foods) for 4.5 years. I lost 60 lbs. in the beginning but still have 15 I would ideally like to drop. They are not coming off (it would really help if I stopped alcohol consumption). It would def. help if I exercised even a little. Your tips about limiting heavy cream, butter, cheese and diet soda and artificial sweeteners really resonated with me. The hardest thing for me is to give up my one diet soda a day and to drink plain water. I always drink some of the no-cal fruity squirty additives to my water. Tastes delicious but I know it is as bad a diet pop. Such a bummer because I am really doing everything else right. I still love keto.

@MJYouAreNotAlone1

That’s crazy, it was just two days ago that I realized just how many calories I was getting from my heavy whipping cream. Also from the cream cheese that I eat. I’ve been consuming lots more cream cheese than usual. And I’ve gained some weight. This video was right on time. Thank you!🙏❤️
