@fulgenzio1973

The Megadrive cover has some of the most beautiful artwork ever done for a game.

@danmakuman

This game is one of the reasons I've got my MD console overclocked. Gone is most of the slowdown in the game and it's much more fun to play.

@orderofmagnitude-TPATP

Gotta say - that ost at the end with the comparison is badass!

Listening on a valve amp with a decent sub and speakers.... cranked up!

@kenwheeler3637

I have the Genesis version and it's a really good game. Awesome artwork on the packaging cover as well. The 3DS port looks really good. I need to try that out.

@forcedfeedbackclassicgamer5499

Love this game on Genesis/MD. Fantastic art direction, especially the MD box art.

@daniel_lucio

Thank God for making Mark finally give us some relief! 🀣I remember exactly the day I saw the announcement of this game in Video Games & Computer Entertainment magazine. I was fascinated and didn't rest until I got my copy, which I still have today. Interestingly, I never finished the game on the Mega Drive but I finished the Steam version in a few hours, what a shame!

@astrades2601

I tried it and it was hard, but man, soundtrack and steampunkish visuals are awesome in Steel Empire. I knew about MD original and Steam port, but didn't know that it had handhelds versions as well.

@DeanoTubes

3DS looked great, especially them clouds and the parallax scrolling! πŸ™‚ thanks for the great videos, as always πŸ‘πŸ»

@billcook4768

So weird to see a Genesis to GBA port, for a game that didn’t have a SNES version. Thanks as always for the video.

@ats2099

I love a good shooter- especially unique games like this. I didn't play this but I would have if I was aware of it back in the day.

@TheFirstHunt

This was one of my favorite Genesis/Mega Drive games I had as a kid. I'm excited to see what you think of all of them.

@mightyfilm

If anything, this has got to be one of the more stylish games I've seen. The opening to the Mega Drive one really gives you that old timey movie look. I even like that little fake Japanese movie copyright logo in the title. I don't care much for Steampunk or something Steampunk adjacent, but I am loving the old school plane and zeppelin instead of a standard spaceship like these things usually have.

@pixhell

This game have a really good musical score! I saw really good parallax scrolling and good use of the light & shadow mode of the Megadrive . ( The Mine level boss )! excellent vid Mark, as usual. πŸ‘πŸ»

@ancientsofuwu

I feel the pixel art of the Mega Drive version is the most pleasant. The fast right-to-left section is a bit painful for me to look at also on the other versions.

But, back in the day I rented this, and found it was ridiculously easy. I was done with it in one session.

@lorddalek

Oh man this one's been overdue for a WHILE.

@thrillington2008

I seen the cartridge a few times in my youth missing out on a great game.

@ianwood6438

Nice looking shooter,going through a shooter addiction at the moment can’t wait for the gradius collection looks great! :)

@thedrunkmonkshow

Because I'm such a huge Steel Empire fan I've played every version starting with the Megadrive original during the Summer Vacation from school in 1993 and was utterly blown away by it's music and high quality Arcade feel kind of how Streets of Rage 2 also had that arcade feel. I don't know if it's nostalgia talking or sheer excitement from back then but I didn't mind the GBA port besides the common handheld screen zoom of that time. I honestly took more issue with the PC port mainly because the audio levels are atrocious and all over the place ruining the experience for me. Even if I turn the sound effects way down and boost the music there's still moments where some sounds are too loud or too low. Out of all the ports I still prefer the Genesis original with the 3DS port at close 2nd. I would recommend that anyone who's a shooter fan start there with the Megadrive original before venturing out to the others. That first game is a masterpiece to me and Hot B got everything tweaked and perfect. πŸ˜‡

@malcolmar

Great game. I own and love this game both on the Genesis and the 3DS. I also have it for PC on Steam and it plays perfectly on the Steam Deck despite it not being labeled as "Playable" or "Verified" for the Steam Deck. I just wish there was an option in full screen without the border. Still a great game for a portable. Like playing on the Sega Nomad but better. Should be a perfect fit for the Switch.

@topofbones

Never know about ports of this wonderful game. Steam punk at it's best. Thank's for the show!
