My grandmother was always refusing free food and gifts. She would even forbid us from accepting free products, whether it was from strangers or someone close to us. Even though she is gone, it's still hard for us to accept free gifts. This is a good lesson about listening to your instincts, obeying your parents and to pray over everything that you received.
