Yeah, the original recipe is melt chocolate on the inside and make a thick plug at the bottom. I even had that in a really old cookbook. But they seem to have skipped some steps😂

If you melted chocolate inside the cone you would get the greatest cone ever...the ice cream cone with chocolate at the bottom.

Putting a marshmallow in the bottom of the cone will keep it from leaking too. Idk if anyone has said that yet .

If you melt the chocolate first that would work, but if the ice cream is truly melting in the cone it can flow around the chips. I think it might depend on the cones you use. The one you had doesn’t have much of a hole at the bottom, but some waffle cones if not rolled tightly enough could have more of a gap. But again you’ve got to be eating slow enough for it to drip on the inside to the bottom of the cone and leak out.

This is a trick used by pretty much all ice cream cones sold in my country! They all have a layer of chocolate on the bottom so the ice cream doesnt melt out
