I have no goals... I simply thank God that I have my health. All the goals I set for myself were destroyed by outside factors. Every single one. It would take a novel to explain. It sent me into a depression and then I simply snapped out of it by my first sentence. Absurdly enough, I've been happier and healthier ever since.

Setting goals is an important step towards achieving your dreams and aspirations. By defining specific, measurable, and realistic goals, you can create a roadmap for your success. It's important to set both short-term and long-term goals, and to break them down into actionable steps. Additionally, make sure your goals align with your values and aspirations. Remember, setting goals is just the first step, it's up to you to take consistent action towards achieving them. With determination and persistence, you can make your dreams a reality.

@boerieza

I love the analogy of losing weight as a goal but missing it. The problem I'm seeing is that businesses keep pushing the "time is money" mindset. So that 2 months that may take you longer than initially anticipated is seen as 2 months' "money" that wasn't planned for, and the obsession comes from the money that is perceived as "lost". Even in the Agile world, business leadership is completely on board with new ways of working until it becomes more expensive than the forecast said it would 12 months ago. Then it's panic stations all over again, and the new ways of working get reverted back into a comfort zone, where money-predictability is more comfortable. Why? Because moving out of the comfort zone would have impacted the SHAREHOLDERS.

Heaven knows I love the insights that Simon brings into the world. Heck, my day job revolves around them. But big organisations have not been about the people for a while now. They are exclusively for and about the shareholders. Any notion that takes focus away from the money provided to shareholders is alien and a threat to them and will ultimately be shot down.
