Used to work at a movie theater and they literally trained us to ignore outside food and beverage. The only thing they cared about is if people were trying to bring like full bags of takeout or pizzas or something like that. If you can conceal it you can bring it in. The training specifically cautions against things like alcohol and firearms but I was straight up told to ignore things like candy and sodas in people's bags

I do this all the time! Usually when we go to the movies I bring in snacks that we have around the house and stuff them into a Totoro bag. Like, we bring Hot Cheetos to mix with the popcorn and such
