Specialty shotgun shells used for kick-starting piston Aircraft in the 30s/40s and some tractors is another cool usage. "Coffman Engine Starter" for reference.
The Browning M2 is not a General Purpose Machine Gun. A GPMG is a weapon that can fulfill the role of light machine gun carried into mobile warfare by a single soldier, or used in a fixed position on a tripod mount for sustained fire. The M2 is a Heavy Machine Gun that can be used by infantry in a fixed position. It can also be installed on a wide variety of vehicles.
Technically, the three requirements to classify a firearm as an assault rifle are, 1. Must have a detachable magazine (magazine capacity doesn't matter), 2. Must be select fire (semi-auto, full auto and/or 3 round or other burst fire, 3. Must use an intermediate rifle cartridge. If the weapon in question is lacking any of these three things, it isn't an assault rifle.
Like always. Fascinating and educational.
The thumbnail tho :cat-orange-whistling:
0:01 Beverly Hills cop iii
“A bullet can’t stop the bull moose!” Theodore Roosevelt
Dang this mustache guy fights for everyone! He’s a real weapon for hire in history!
15:45. Really? With the Pop-Tart? RIP Paul Harrell.
This compilation video was fantastic, once again you outdid yourself Simple History. Your thumbnail was exquisite to look at since the weapon that is shown looks like it came straight out of the Dead Rising franchise.
The thumbnail is an interesting decision...
15:40 I am SO glad I saw this thing at 12:56 and went "that's the damn "lunchbox gun" Hopper had in RoboCop II !"
Update 18-09-24: PAGER weapon !!!
Love the Beverly Hills Cop 3 firearm in the thumbnail.
I loved the line in the Bond film Goldeneye. When Q gives bond the grenade pen. Bond : "They always said the pen was mightier than the Sword" Q : "Thanks to me, they were right!"
I love it when Simple History does stories on guns
I can learn more history from this channel than in school
Is that a Beverly Hills Cop III gun?
