I used your question in my high leadership interview: "Is there anything you see on my resume preventing me from being considered for this job?" The executive leadership panel looked shocked, stumbled on their words, and stated that it was the best question they had ever heard from all their interviews. They finally responded, I countered and sold myself, and within 4 hours I was called and offered the job! You are right, this question sealed the deal, I think! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
I replied to the weakness question with "pizza" once and the panel laughed so hard. And moved to the next question. Got the job.
My problem with interviews is that it feels like a manipulation game from both sides. As an interviewee, I have no interest in constructing some narrative around my life so I can easily answer tired questions. I especially don't want to feel like I'm walking on a land mine having to choose my language. I'd rather be as honest as possible and not get the job.
4:46 "I have a lot of ideas and opinions, so when asked for group input in meetings I have the urge to want to jump right in with what I’ve got. I learned a while back that 1. Some folks take a little longer to process a question, 2. People can be quite put-off by someone who always pipes up first up with ideas, and 3. Not every opinion needs to be heard. I’ve learned to give others space to give their input first, before I give my own every time." OMG did I need to hear that, interview or not. I'll be interviewing soon, and not only is this a great answer, it's an EXCELLENT reminder for me personally about something I already struggle with. Thank you for quantifying it the way you have. I've worked in places where that didn't happen and others where it did, but thinking about it the way you've put it here gives me the "structure" I need to act right and not become perceived as a know-it-all. Certain people can seriously hurt you if they have a grudge against you.
I’m 18, and going into an interview for a breakfast restaurant tomorrow. It would be my first official job, and I’m so excited. Thank for the tips.
I just stumbled on your videos, as I couldn’t relate to the shouting man, or a woman from the UK. You’re so relatable to me and deliver information I need for a big interview on Monday. I’ll now be looking at additional videos. Thank you so much!
this video helped me get my job!! tip: study the job description and focus on how your experience directly relates and transferable skills. I finally got a job after months of interviewing! Thank you for your videos :)
My weakness used to be accepting change but experience has taught me that the anticipated changes were always doable and I've been able to make said transitions with ease and succeed❤.
Good advices here 👍and I'll add "be yourself" and you'll most likely get the job! Remember, whatever you say in an interview you'll have to commit to it when you've actually got the job, so be careful not to exagorate and cross that fine line between "confidence" and "lying"!
I'm scheduled for an interview tomorrow lol, I'm extremely shy and anxious but I will try my best and heed these advice and tips. I will update this on how it went.
Thank you so much for your videos. I was able to use these videos to dust off my skills and land a job after months of searching. Salary negotiation helped me not get low balled. You are truly amazing.
All of your videos have helped me so much!! I landed my dream job and today was my first day. I just wanted to stop by to thank you for all that you do!!
Thanks!
Amazing video and content!!! I studied this video before my interview, and I GOT THE JOB. This was my first time interviewing for a job and your videos definitely helped me practice. Thank you!!!
Thanks... it was really helpful Some companies follow SAO modeling instead of STAR. It is basically the same Situation - outline a specific situation. Action – describe the actions you took in response to that situation. Outcome - describe the outcome or result.
I GOT THE JOB!! Aaaah! Thank you Cass for all the excellent advice, you're a lifesaver.
I soaked up all your videos and got the job!! Thank you so much!
The person who interviewed me made fun of me for looking up the company before the meeting. What'd they want? Someone who didn't care? I wished I walked out right then bc, as mentioned in another video, the applicant's interviewing the company too.
I’m going for an interview on Tuesday, I will update you on the outcome with an honest answer. I am 54 and only do menial jobs so really not hopeful because ageism is rife in Britain!
