Looks like YouTube wasn’t a fan of our original videos on the Iranian Embassy Siege and restricted them. So, we’ve combined both videos, sprinkled in some censoring, and are crossing our fingers it follows YouTube’s rules this time!

This video was made possible thanks to everyone on the Simple History Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/simplehistory

Interesting facts for gamers, the rainbow six siege operator, Thatcher, was written to be one of the SAS operators who took part in Operation Nimrod. Another fact is that one of the SAS operators, John McAleese, was the inspiration for the original Captain John Price in the Modern Warfare trilogy.

@CGR89

One thing to note about that last guy discovered among the hostages in the back garden: when discovered the SAS attempted to bring him back inside the building to ensure all terrorists were KIA, but when it was pointed out that there were live cameras broadcasting the event they brought him to a police van instead.

@moesanchez4953

Fun fact: one of the SAS agents John McAleese who was part of the rescue operation, was the main inspiration for Captain Price in the Call of Duty Modern Warfare game series

@TDG-f1lm

You should cover the 1980 Norco Shootout, which was a bank robbery that involved 5 robbers, a car chase on the freeway, bombs being thrown at police, a helicopter was shot down (it made a safe landing), and a foot chase in the San Bernardino Forest.
Three of the five robbers survived, multiple cops cars were damaged, and a riverside deputy was killed, his name was James Bernard Evans

Operation Nimrod is the one that solidified the SAS's place as an elite counter-terrorist role as well as putting the MP5's legendary 'good guy' status on the map.

@SakorskySP

I remember when this got demonitized, this was my favorite video at that time.

@Renzo_Benzo

the redirected flights to flow low over the embassy is something you will here out of a james bond movie

@Golfjong

This is what made the SAS famous pretty sure

@ORDEROFTHEKNIGHTSTEMPLARX111

Nobody in the UK knew the SAS even existed untill we seen this HOSTAGE RESCUE live on TV and afterwards the application rate to join the SAS skyrocketed 😂

@neofulcrum5013

The SAS really shined here

@ProtocoleX

I was just watching part 2 when it got privated. I can at least finish it now, lol. Good stuff

@GuardianOfTheHeaven

"Confident. Force for order. Terrorist's bane." - Ahoy on the HK MP5 Iconic Arms video.

@MINHTIEN-wh5kj

"Remove any doubts in your head; it's us, or them."

@bradleyheath9029

We finally got the full story now thank you

@justandy333

As a Brit, I for one am incredibly grateful that the SAS exist and are able to perform such operations. They truly have an incredible reputation and I'm very proud of them.
Thankyou so much for re-editing this video and putting it back up on youtube. Finger crossed Youtube's hit squad bots don't take it down.

@LuminousJay94

Long have I waited for this episode!

@charlesbird2897

This reminds me of Captain Price yelling “flash bang through the door” in the tutorial mission in COD 4

@paulcowlishaw

I remember watching a programme about this on tv. Really interesting. 1 of the terrorist tried to run out with the hostages but got shot when the hostages pointed him out to the SAS.

@jl3ins

"Are we rushing in? Or we're going sneaky-beaky like?"
