My hope is that Nintendo makes a modern paper mario game with classic paper mario elements like unique characters and partners (new and returning) while keeping it's arts and craft aesthetic and origami king's battle system so that the classic fans and the modern fans can finally get along

If I'm not totally mistaken, this is apparently the version of Paper Mario that Shigeru Miyamoto himself rejected for Sticker Star. You: "Wait... DON'T TELL ME!" Then they showed him another version, closer to the final product You: "NONONONONO! WAITWAITWAIT! *WAITWAITWAIT!*" He said "This is even worse" You: [DJ stops SFX] "Wait what?" To this day... I still don't get it. They show you PMTTYD2 for 3DS "bad", then PMSS Beta "even worse"... and they go with PMSS? How is this series able to recover from this while Mario & Luigi's company died for less?

It honestly still kinda looks a little bad to me. It definitely looks better then the final version don't get me wrong...but it still doesn't look all the great IMO. But still talk about a crazy find!

Honestly, this game was extremely lucky to be commercially successful (sold nearly as well as M&L Dream Team), despite development being a total mess (and being despised by the hardcore fans). And Paper Mario continued on, while AlphaDream collapsed. Probably because Intelligent Systems still had Fire Emblem, while AlphaDream had nothing else.

Man, it feels so refreshing to finally get this lost footage. Back when Sticker Star WASN'T the worst Mario game of all time, and instead it looked like a Paper Mario game for 3DS. (Though the stickers are still being used for combat. Ewwwww...)

Just so everyone knows, the Chain Chomp partner would've acted similar to Kooper and Koops, charging in a certain direction to hit and break objects.
