And that’s how you get banned from the installation. There was a guy who got banned from the Air Force base north of us for making terroristic threats to some Security Forces dudes, then he got detained when he tried to come onto my base, which is Army. Fun times

There is a decommissioned Nike nuclear missile base near my home. I have toured it and spoken with the vets who operated it. They said that military intelligence periodically sent people to test their security. One guard let a delivery worker throw some lumber over the fence, and he was punished with loss of rank. Another time, someone came to deliver sandwiches, and the guard told him if he tried to enter the base, he would be shot. The guard passed the test; the sandwich guy was actually an intelligence officer.

I worked front gate at a 4 Star installation. When I was a PFC, The General (4 star) stopped and stood with me one evening. I was petrified. All the O6s and GO’s driving through stopped to say hello to the General. When the General left he said I should only start sweating when a 2 star or above starts screaming at me. I remembered that my entire career.
