When I saw the log, I thought you were going to burn it and make the charcoal.. nice shortcut, I have been making the charcoal myself in the past. I usually add biochar to my hugelkultur mounds. Once we burned down a bunch of brush/branches so we could get it to a size, we could get enough soil to cover the hugelkultur mound. The logs had a deep char layer to absorb our nutrient solutions.. fish emulsion ..urine.. seaweed tea.. weed tea.

If you burn it up for the clean ash and throw a slight layer on your cucumbers and zuchini and others it will keep the pests away
