Nintendo’s entire plan for stopping duping has amounted to “get rid of that sort button” or get rid of that drop button” and it’s very rude that they keep removing convenience features like these in the name of stopping players from duplicating things in a single player game. And you know they’re doing it to combat duping because the situations are highly situational and the average player only casually enjoying the game probably won’t stumble upon any of the duplication glitches that have been patched, with the exception of maybe the paraglider one if they decided to literally drop bombs on an enemy as they glide over it

In case anybody has had the same issues as I have trying to dup like this. I found that the real trick is making sure link is FALLING after making the jump off the ledge. If you try and do this glitch immediately after link jumps and is still going upward you will fail every time. Instead just jump off the ledge and wait till link is falling (losing height on the z coordinate) then non of the other steps in this glitch really matter if his arm is in any specific place. Just as long as he's falling before you do the first d up it will work every time regardless of timing. Just jump wait till link falls then follow the steps without worrying about being frame perfect..

Someone else commented it, but the more the merrier. If you're getting the "You can't use that right now" message, it's because Link hasnt dropped below the edge of the ledge/platform yet. He needs to fall below it for this to work properly. So let him fall for about half a second like the video said. The half second is so Link gets just below the ledge.

Just a tip, if you have your menu sorted by type, if you drop all of your inventory, and then pick up 1 for the dupe process, afger you scroll all the way over, it will always be the last item before the zonai devices, and every time you have to open up the menu, it will always default to the zonai devices every time so you only have to scroll over once. Makes duping faster. Also there is a way to dupe 40. After you got your 21 (20 on the ground and 1 in inventory), if you fuse 20 of them together using the ultrahand, the game recognizes that conglomerate as 1 single item. Dupe 1 more time and fuse the 21st one to the group (max fusing cap is at 20). This means you would be able to perform the dupe glitch 19 more times before it would disappear since the conglomerate of 21 items is only recognized as a single item by the game. So the cap can actually be at 40 if done right.

Also it works jumping forward too. If you have items that explode like fire lizalfos tails, or chu chu jellies. If you hold R after pulling up the menu a 2nd time to drop the item, you will duplicate and still hold the item. Aim up in the air and throw it, then quickly activate the recall. The item will come back and as soon as it does you can cancel out and the item will drop to the ground without activating

I have done this a lot. Eventually you'll be able to do it consistently 100% of the time. If it doesn't work, try leaving more time between each step. Worked for me. If you want to dupe something that explodes on impact, hold the r button again right after releasing it, then drop your item. You'll still be holding the item. Then, throw it in the air, and use recall to safely pick up the item. Also works by looking in the air and performing the dupe normally.

crouch and backstep off a ledge and no matter the timing it works as long as you open the inv before your feet hit ground you can do it off a fan if you get the timing good enough

Found an easy way to do this, even with dragon parts or other "effect" items. I made a short so you can follow - Hope it helps you all duplication lovers. BTW thanks to KnightPotayto for sharing!
