Andy Kaufman did this exact routine, back in 1966 during the very first Saturday Night Live episode. He did it with the Mighty Mouse theme... he stood there just like that until the part came where he sang out loud: Here I come to save the dayyyy!

Karaoke song. He said tequila three times without singing a note. It was still karaoke, and didn't make anybody's ears bleed. Bonus. Plus it was a comedy skit. And it was funny. He did apathy really, really well.
