The fact that Heathrow doesn't have full electrical redundancy is what baffles me. It's not even a matter of "where are the backup generators"? No! Heathrow should have AT LEAST a secondary Main Power Supply that is fed and connect to a different side of the network, i.e. when you lose a substation, the other one is already there connected and ready to go. The transition from one to the other is virtually seamless.
