My mom gave me a pair of shoes for my birthday last year. They look like they're made of crocheted granny squares. I'm wearing them ragged because they're all I want to wear. They make me a little happier every time I see them. I'm thirty-three, and I don't think these shoes will survive to thirty-four. But I'm going to love them while they're here.

Oud and henna, whenever I wear them I remember my grandmother and how she was always doused in Oud and how she would glop some henna in my hands and close it. It was never perfect but it was always beautiful
