If you had unlimited budget, would you go for the 97” G5 or wait for something better?

@GalvatronTypeR

Two takeaways from this video:

-the 97" G series not getting the latest panels has less to do with price and more to do with yield rates. As he said, the 97" takes up an entire sheet of glass and the yield rate on them are still unacceptably low (if the panel has any defects, the entire glass must be thrown out) so they choose the lower risk option of using the base panel tech. Samsung does the same on their 83" OLEDs which uses a WOLED panel not QD.

-Caleb just admitted to an open secret among Youtube TV reviewers. While they are not paid off by the TV industry, they must guard their access like it is pure gold. That is why the reviewers are uncomfortable offering even the mildest criticism of these displays because it is very easy for them to get blacklisted and not invited to the all expenses paid junkets or get shut out from receiving review samples. And it was really low class for the LG PR rep to stand over Caleb while he did his spiel without saying what he wanted to say like it was a hostage video.

9:44 Typing on TV: you can Use Google TV or Fire TV app on your phone to key in passwords for respective TV apps. On an Android phone there is option to even add Google TV in quick settings drop down.

@WheelieMan711

To add to the tip for entering passwords on your TV, a lot of TV/streaming boxes (not just Apple TV as Caleb mentioned) have apps that let you use the keyboard on your phone to enter things on the TV.

@narrowistheway77

The price jump from the 83” LG G5 to the 97” LG G5 is absolutely ridiculous too, it’s nearly 4x the price, but then it ditches the technology that makes us all want the LG G5 in the first place?!?! 😂
LG just inspired me to buy either the 77” or 83” for my upstairs living room and the 116UX from Hisense for my downstairs living room rather than a G5 for both hahaha

@GQ_91

The clicks are the Oled refresh cycle RTINGs when testing Oled TVs found that the Sony oleds would do their cycle around 4-6 hours after they are switched off. I have an A80L and an A80K and I can confirm I have heard the Click 15:34

@TheFrugalAudiophile

Another option for inputting, passwords and search queries is using a Bluetooth keyboard. I know that Apple TV allows you to do this, and I am fairly certain a few other streaming devices and televisions do as well.

@DeffecX

To the first guy having the netflix streaming issues, I believe the $50 Onn 4k pro from Walmart is a better option. It's just as fast as the Google branded one, maybe a tiny less, and has been recommended by you guys on this channel before. Had it for a few months and couldn't be happier.

@markchristantaguiam819

Just got a 65 LG G4 3 days ago. I love the picture quality, its worth every penny. I know that LG G5 is coming next month, but hey, that's as far as our budget can go. I am having a jaw drop every time I watch a 4K HDR10 and Dolby Vision movies in it, just watched Avatar HDR10 part 1 coded in 4Knits and my heart was thumping with joy.

@kburns2406

It would cost money, but another option for entering login credentials is to get a USB keyboard and plug it in so that you can type everything in.

@MrHerrera805

Dang, you got me with the click bait. Good episode though 🤙🏼

@tim3172

The Google Home app lets you type anything into any Google/Android TV-powered device.
Device -> remote -> tap back -> keyboard
Sony's "Video and TV SideView" app has typing as well. (X900E and A80K)
LG's ThinQ app allows for typing into WebOS models. (B3 and C3)
Finally, the Vizio app does if you tap the three dots to the right of the mic and select the keyboard button. (Vizio M558-g1)

Also, you mentioned the Apple TV's ability to do this. That's one of the greatest things about Apple TV is the easy input and syncing of usernames and passwords across devices.

@ankitkumardayma

14:49 I have an LG G2 Oled 65", and it also makes the clicking sound when I turn it On. So it's not only in Sony or Panasonic.

@TheFrugalAudiophile

Title might be a little “click bait“, but I watch every episode of you asked anyway.

@LeezahB

This is a really good episode!

@LeesReviews69

Your click bait got me, but I’m not mad. Great content

@AaronMcFarland

How I found the TV calibrator I have used several times. I posted in avsforum Calibrator channel asking if someone calibrates TVs in the Denver CO area and had quite a few reached out for me. The calibrator I use is Gregg Loewen who is based out of the Maine area but travels to Denver CO usually yearly.

@stukim99

Thanks!

@bobcubsfan

Apple TV allows pairing a Bluetooth keyboard which of course can be used for passwords and in searches. Also the arrow keys and return keys can be used as well.

@FurgottenWolf

I had an LG TV that had a full qwerty keyboard on the backside of the remote. The TV is long gone but I still have the remote somewhere. This was at least a decade ago or more though, but the point is it did exist at one time from a major TV brand.
