When speaking about the events of the first game, Ellie said to Joel 'it can’t be for nothing'. Turns out it actually was for nothing.
Forcing a real woman out of her job to champion fictional women....slayed me.
I can just see the articles now: "Fans HATE The Last of Us 2, and that's a good thing." "The story of TLOU2 is actually genius, and here's why." "TLOU2 is underperforming in sales, Gamergate and Nazis to blame."
I worked with Amy at Crystal Dynamics and I have never met, before or since, such a creative, intelligent, and dedicated individual, to say nothing of her incredible storytelling talent. What happened to her at ND was an inexcusable crime. Lesson learned: The talented artists and designers who create monumentally successful (and profitable) work are always at the mercy of non-creative suits who have no fucking clue how to do anything but make fiction-based earning projections spreadsheets.

My wallet is certainly feeling $60 heavier, that’s for damn sure.
Funny how Mr. Woke gets his bonus but not the actual people that build the game.
Disobedient K-9 somehow managed the impossible, they made Zombie Mushroom Game Part 2 even worse than I could have imagined even after reading the leaks. The person who did the leak should have a statue made of them as they saved so many people many hours of frustration and $60.00.
All hail Amy Hennig, a TRUE independent and creative woman.
Fun fact: 70% of the team listed in the Uncharted 4 credits are no longer at Disobedient Canine Think about that for a second.
We need more women in games let's start by getting rid of one of the finest writers in gaming ( a women )? Genius.
More than twenty months later, this video is still absolutely spot on. And for those who continue to accuse The Critical Drinker of misogyny or anti-woman biases, they're not really listening to his core message: uplifting female roles in media does not have to come at the expense of demolishing existing storylines, characters, narratives, and settings. Unfortunately, as TCD keeps pointing out, this is exactly what happens, and only because modern writers are too lazy and modern corporate producers too averse to risk.
"So what if you are actually forcing an actual real woman out of her job in video games while claiming to champion fictional women in video games" This is a perfect hit, you are a true sniper, sir! So true, it hurts.
Careful now, Naughty Dog is attacking everyone at the moment.
"Your customers don't want this" ... He knows this, dear Drinker. He knows this all too well. The problem is he doesn't want his customers, he wants new and diverse customers. Customers who probably aren't even interested in computer games since they're completely preoccupied with their own identity and social acceptance.
Imagine tarnishing a whole reputation of a well known game company and slandering their fanbase, just to simp for a crazy lady who hates men...
God I'm old. I remember when it was only Japanese games that made you ask "is that a guy or girl?"
It's been said before, but the leaker is a hero without a cape who just saved lots of people 60 something bucks.
Troy Baker: "Keep an open mind" Joel: "Way ahead of you"
