Potato - 1 No.
Green Chilli - 3 Nos
Green Peas - 1 Bowl
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 Tsp
Tomato - 3 Nos
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 Tsp
Salt - 1 Tsp
Chilli Powder - 1 1/2 Tsp
Mint Leaves
Coriander Leaves
Curry Leaves
Garam Masala - 1/2 Tsp
Water
Method
Start by making the masala paste—soak cashew nuts, peppercorns, cumin, fennel, and poppy seeds in water for 10 minutes. Then, blend them with freshly grated coconut into a smooth paste.
Next, heat oil in a kadai and add whole spices like bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom. Sauté finely chopped onions until golden, then toss in cubed potatoes, fresh green peas, and green chilies. Add ginger-garlic paste, chopped tomatoes, turmeric, salt, and red chili powder—mix well.
Pour in water, cook on low flame, and cover. After 5 minutes, check the potatoes and peas for tenderness. Add the freshly ground masala paste and adjust the consistency with more water if needed.
Finally, sprinkle fresh mint, coriander, and curry leaves, and add garam masala for that finishing touch. Simmer for a few more minutes, and your flavorful Potato and Green Peas Kuruma is ready!
