My name is Nicole Block of the Nic Studio. I do stationary and illustrations, and I specialize in custom wedding invitations and special event invitations. My website is thenicstudio.com and I'll be talking to you today about wedding invitations. I'm here to talk to you today about 'save the dates' for your wedding. They've gotten really popular over the years but really there are only a few requirements for 'save the dates'. Firstly, if your having a destination wedding, or if you have a lot of people traveling to your wedding, they go out about six months to a year in advance. Gives people plenty of time to plan. Other reasons maybe are, that you're having it on a holiday weekend and you wanna make sure people know that that's where they have to be that holiday weekend. I do always like showing stuff from my wedding. I had an interesting wedding. It was a coffee themed wedding. I'm weird. so I decided to do a save the date coaster. And this had little instructions on it. It said, 'Invitation to follow. Remember to use your coaster'. And they had to take off the little coaster and underneath was a nice little coffee stain. So it was just like a little intro into what was coming. This is a great little save the date. They're getting married at Tribeca rooftop and Tribeca rooftop has these great windows in the space. So we decided to draw the windows, I drew the windows, and then we put all the save the date wording in the space. This one was great. She was getting married at this mansion, this old, converted mansion. So we went with an art nouveau theme for everything. Please save the date, all the great information and their wedding website, if you have one of those, include that. One more thing. A lot of people like to use postcards for their save the date. I am anti postcard. Don't use a postcard. Use it, put it in an envelope and make sure that people actually get it in one piece. Postcards get destroyed in the mail.
