There are 2000 years old Buddhist caves in Vijasan Tekdi at Vijasan village near Bhadrawati town.
This is a very curiously planned Buddhist cave. A long tunnel is driven straight into the hill to a distance of 71 feet at the end of which is a shrine containing a colossal Buddha seated upon a bench. On the right and left of the entrance to this Cave other two smaller caves, one on either side, are driven in at right angles to this first one, and each of these has a shrine and colossal Buddha. Local legend has it that the central Buddha is the image of king Pandu-the image in the right gallery his son-that in the left his nephew. On the scarped side of the approach to the entrances to these galleries is a very much worn inscription in cave character. Another one belonging to the 9th century has been removed to the Nagpur Museum and has been referred to at length in the History chapter.These caves have hosted International Buddha Dhamma conventions. Several leaders and Monks of Buddha Dhamma from all over the world have represented at the convention.
