Off-Grid in Alaska: Our $200 Greenhouse Built from Salvaged Materials

When we hauled out a few materials salvaged from our old barn out back a few weeks ago, we had plans for the garden in mind. The ground has thawed enough, and we are starting in on our high tunnel build!

The short summers in Alaska and cold soil temperatures can make for gardening challenges. This will help us extend our season and gardening possibilities.

The seedlings are growing strong, and ready to be transplanted soon. A small coldframe was needed for them, and Dennis built that too- also repurposed!

Looking forward to the growing season, and seeing what we can do.
