In Kerala Three Lay Brothers are Living in the Jungle for 30+ Years | Fr. Daniel Poovannathil Shares Their Story"
At the Last Supper, Jesus reveals His perfect holiness through His actions and words. He institutes the Eucharist, giving His Body and Blood as the ultimate sacrifice for the salvation of mankind. In His humility, He washes the feet of His disciples, teaching them the importance of love and service. Jesus also gives them a new commandment: to love one another as He has loved them. His prayer for unity and His promise of the Holy Spirit further demonstrate His divine holiness. Through these acts, Jesus shows the fullness of His mission—offering Himself in love for humanity, embodying holiness in self-sacrifice, and laying the foundation for Christian life through the Eucharist.
John 13:
Jesus washes the disciples' feet, showing them how to serve others. He announces that Judas will betray Him and gives the "new commandment" — to love one another as He has loved them.
John 14:
Jesus comforts His disciples, promising that He is going to prepare a place for them. He tells them He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and promises the coming of the Holy Spirit (the Advocate).
John 15:
Jesus teaches about the Vine and the Branches — urging His disciples to remain in Him to bear fruit. He calls them His friends and reminds them to love each other. He warns them the world will hate them, just as it hated Him.
John 16:
Jesus speaks of His coming departure but promises the Holy Spirit will guide them. He warns of coming hardships but encourages them to have peace because He has "overcome the world."
John 17:
In this chapter, Jesus prays to His Father before His crucifixion. He prays for Himself, asking to be glorified so He can glorify the Father. He prays for His disciples, asking for their protection and unity. Finally, He prays for all future believers (including us), that they may experience the same unity with God that He has with the Father.
