Ingredients:
45g soya chunks
1 tbsp cornflour
1 tbsp all-purpose flour (maida)
1/2 tsp ginger-garlic paste
1/2 tsp soy sauce
1/4 tsp black pepper powder
1/4 tsp red chili powder
Salt to taste
Oil for frying
For the Sauce:
1 tbsp oil
1/2 onion (cubed)
1/2 capsicum (cubed, any color)
1 green chili (slit or chopped)
1 tsp ginger-garlic (finely chopped)
1 tbsp soy sauce
1/2 tbsp tomato ketchup
1/2 tbsp red chili sauce
1/2 tsp vinegar
1/4 tsp black pepper powder
Salt to taste
1/4 tsp sugar (optional, for balance)
1/4 cup water mixed with 1/2 tsp cornflour (for thickening)
Instructions:
1. Boil the Soya:
Boil water, add soya chunks with a pinch of salt, and cook for 5-7 minutes.
Drain, rinse with cold water, and squeeze out excess water.
2. Prepare the Batter:
In a bowl, mix cornflour, maida, ginger-garlic paste, soy sauce, black pepper, red chili powder, and salt.
Add little water to make a thick batter.
Coat the boiled soya chunks in the batter.
3. Fry the Soya:
Heat oil in a pan and deep or shallow-fry the coated soya chunks until golden and crispy.
Drain on tissue paper and keep aside.
4. Prepare the Sauce:
Heat oil in a pan, add chopped ginger, garlic, and green chilies. Sauté for a few seconds.
Add onions and capsicum, stir-fry on high flame for 1-2 minutes.
Add soy sauce, chili sauce, tomato ketchup, vinegar, sugar, black pepper, and salt.
Pour the cornflour-water mixture and cook until the sauce thickens.
5. Combine Everything:
Add fried soya chunks to the sauce and mix well until coated.
Cook for 1-2 minutes, then turn off the flame.
6. Serve Hot
Garnish with chopped spring onions (optional).
