Grisly Murder Scene at Haunted Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary | discovery+

We set up cameras to catch paranormal activity in one of the most haunted locations in the nation, Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary. Tennessee's first prison was called the Alcatraz of the East, but most criminals knew it as "the end of the line." Some speculate over 10,000 inmates died in the 113 years Brushy operated as a coal mining labor facility and maximum-security prison. Housing some of the nation's most violent murderers, robbers, and rapists, Brushy was a violent hell for prisoners. Inmates killed inmates, making every spot potentially lethal. Well-behaved prisoners could enjoy occasional access to the outdoor area, known simply as "The Yard," which featured a basketball court. This large open area also consisted of a gymnasium with an indoor basketball court and a boxing ring. Unfortunately, it was here that many sporting events would give way to riots and fights staged as diversions. Prisoners were beaten dead in the gymnasium bathroom, and others were deliberately crushed to death on the exercise yard weight bench. Poltergeist activity and strange colored lights have been reported in the gymnasium. Find out what or who haunts the scene of so many grisly murders.
