Heat Wave Conditions Fuel Bushfire in Australia

Heat wave conditions and strong winds fanned a coastal bushfire that threatened properties in Western Australia, Saturday, December 14.
Emergency warnings were issued for the Yanchep area, north of Perth, where a blaze began, Wednesday, December 11. Temperatures for the region hovered around 40 degrees Celcius, hampering efforts by firefighters to contain the fire.
Bushfires have killed at least four people across the east coast of Australia since November, burnt about 2.5 million acres of farmland and bush, and destroyed more than 400 homes. (Reuters)
