What Was Life Really Like For Viking Men And Women?

Known as blood-thirsty Scandinavian warriors, the Vikings were also fine craftsmen and master sailors with a rich culture. Modern archaeology reveals their rituals and ceremonial practices, such as elaborate ship burials and cremation practices. Viking society was prosperous and complex, with women playing crucial roles in managing farms and religious activities while men were away, having larger political influence than Christian women. They opened trade routes, founded cities and captured ancient hubs, showcasing their ship-building expertise and creating a pan-Scandinavian trading route. This series tells us what life was really like for Viking men and women and its lasting impact on European history.
