Germany earned a reputation for impressive tank designs, something that continued well after the Second World War. During the Cold War, with fears of Soviet tanks causing more than a few sleepless nights, German engineers developed the Leopard 2, a main battle tank that not only could stand toe to toe with Soviet armor, and is still used today as the backbone of many armored forces around the world.
