Anxiety might be the reason. Many people blame a lack of vocabulary, poor grammar skills, not being smart enough, not being fluent enough - the list goes on.
More often then not, we're just getting in our own way. We feel anxious as a result of a fear of judgment, which 'clogs' the brain and makes it very difficult for us to think clearly.
One quick and easy (evidence-supported) way is to take two deep breaths, breathing out slowly. It won't remove your anxiety, but it can definitely help stressful speaking situations.
