Hinduism Part 11: Hindu Practices

This video explains Hindu practices such as yajnas (rituals before a fire altar), worship in temples, home altars, and festivals such as Holi and Deewali. There are three types of facial pigments or deocrations used in Hinduism--bindi, tilaka, and sindoor--which have different meanings. The ancient Indo-Aryans used to kill and eat cows, but for over two millenia killing or harming cows has been regarded as a grave sin in Hinduism. Ayurveda, traditional Indian medicine, uses the theory of the three gunas, which originates in the Hindu Upanishads and Samkhya school.
