NEET 2025 was the toughest NEET exam in history, marked by a highly challenging paper and significant changes in pattern and evaluation. Held on May 4, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM in a single shift, the exam returned to a fully compulsory format with no optional questions—unlike the flexible structure seen during COVID years—requiring candidates to attempt all 180 multiple-choice questions across Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany + Zoology) within 180 minutes. The difficulty spike was particularly evident in Physics, which included complex numerical problems and lengthy calculations, causing time management issues for many students. Chemistry focused heavily on organic mechanisms and NCERT exceptions, while Biology featured tricky conceptual MCQs that deviated from traditional direct questions. Conducted in 13 languages, NEET 2025 also introduced a new tie-breaking mechanism based on random selection by an independent expert committee due to multiple students scoring identical marks. The application process ran from February 7 to March 7, 2025, followed by a correction window from March 9 to 11. To be eligible, candidates had to be at least 17 years old by December 31, 2025, and must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English, securing a minimum of 50% (or 40% for SC/ST/OBC, 45% for PwBD). With no scope for strategic question selection and increased stress due to tougher questions, NEET 2025 set a new benchmark for difficulty, and results are expected by June 14, 2025, on the official NTA website.
