Gajendra, a mighty elephant, was once caught by a fierce crocodile in a lake, leading to a long struggle between them. Despite Gajendra's strength, he couldn’t break free from the crocodile's grasp, and after years of battling, he finally turned to Lord Vishnu in complete surrender. With deep devotion, he lifted a lotus flower with his trunk and called upon the Lord for help. Vishnu, hearing his devotee's plea, arrived swiftly and saved Gajendra by slaying the crocodile, granting him liberation from suffering.

This story is a profound lesson on humility, surrender, and the importance of unwavering faith in God. It teaches that, despite one's own strength or capabilities, divine intervention is always there for those who surrender with true devotion. Devotees commemorate this day by meditating on these virtues, lighting lamps, and performing rituals to honor Lord Vishnu, seeking liberation from challenges and obstacles.
