Off-road bike seized in Wood End Coventry

We seized an off-road bike as part of our ongoing drive to tackle illegal riding in Coventry.

Working with our colleagues in Traffic, the North East neighbourhood teams flooded the Wood End, Longford, Stoke and Wyken areas in search of illegal off-road bikes.

In the first 15 minutes, we spotted two people driving an off-road bike dangerously down Deedmore Road towards Moat House Park.

The vehicle was stopped by our police off-road bike team at the park entrance and the two youngsters were detained. The bike was also seized.

We recovered some cannabis and the rider referred to drug rehabilitation services He was also reported for having no licence or insurance.

This is part of Operation Prosperity, a focused approach to disrupting anti-social behaviour and illegal use of off-road bikes in Coventry.

During the operation, we also stopped two vehicles for drug searches but nothing was found on this occasion.

Three vehicles were seized and recovered on Rosebury Avenue, Ansty Road and Second Avenue for no insurance. We also spotted a vehicle on Almondtree Road that had been reported stolen and this was recovered for further investigation.

We’d ask residents to continue to report any issues of anti-social behaviour and bikes being ridden illegally, so that we have up-to-date descriptions and locations. You can do this via Live Chat on our website or by ringing 101.
