ओडिशा स्पेशल पोड़ पीठा की रेसिपी | Poda Pitha Recipe | Raja festival special recipe | ରଜ ପୋଡ ପିଠା |

Poda pitha (ପୋଡ଼ ପିଠା) is slow-cooked pitha/cake. It is made by fermented rice, grated coconut, milk, some spices and jaggery. Its crust is slightly burnt, while the inside is soft and white. Poda pitha is generally made during Raja festival. It is served to Lord Jagannath and his siblings at Mausi Maa Temple on their way back after Ratha-Yatra, from Gundicha Temple to Jagannath Temple, Puri.
Raja Parba is the festival, which is celebrated with great enthusiasm and happiness in Odisha. In other places, this day is also celebrated as Mithun Sankranti. This day celebrates womanhood and people worship Mother Earth during these days. This festival will be celebrated for 3 consecutive days. It falls in mid-june. the first day is called Pahili Raja, the second day is Mithuna/raja Sankranti, the third day is Bhudaaha. & the final fourth day is called Basumati snana. Poda pitha is often prepared in raja festival.

Ingredients :

Raw rice - 2 cup (500 grams)
Jaggery - 1&1/2 cup (350 - 400 gram)
Milk - 1&1/2 cup (375 ml)
Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
Chopped coconut - 1/2 cup
Sliced coconut (for garnishing)
Dry fruits (roasted cashew & raisins)

Grounded saunf - 1 tbsp
Black pepper, cardamom & ginger paste
Chopped bay leaf - 3 nos
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Desi ghee - 4 tbsp
Banana leaf
