This French Onion Pasta is such a simple recipe, requires some patience but is so worth it in the long run.
Here are the ingredients that you need which you probably already have in your kitchen
Ingredients:
200 gram pasta
4 white onions
1 clove of garlic
2 tbsp of olive oil
1 cup of 10% or 18% cream
1 beef bouillion cube
1/4 cup of red wine
Directions:
Heat up the pan and add oilve oil. Keep the pan on medium to low heat.
Peel and slice the onions
Add the onions to the pan and stir every few minutes till they turn brown. This does take a little patience. It may take about 25-30 minutes to get the onions to the point of being carmelized but dont be tempted to increase the heat, that will just burn the onions.
Set the onions aside when they're done.
To that same pan add the red wine to deglaze and one beef bouillion cube.
Keep stiring and scraping the bits off of the bottom of the pan. Add about 1/2 cup of water to this and stir till the bouillion cube is dissolved.
Drop the heat to medium and add the cream. Stir continuously till the cream thickens about 5 min.
In the meantime add the pasta to salted boiling water.
Remove the pasta at the al dente stage and add to the sauce.
Add pasta water if necessary.
It takes about 5 minutes for the pasta to absorb some of the sauce and to thicken up.
You can add parmesan cheese but it is not necessary.
Garnish with chopped parsley, sometimes I add chopped toasted walnuts.
