How to Reset & Format Windows 10/11: Full Factory Reset Guide
If your system is running slow or you want to start fresh, performing a factory reset can help. Here’s how to reset and format Windows 10/11.
Use the Reset This PC feature
1. Press Windows + I to open Settings.
2. Go to System - Recovery.
3. Under Reset this PC, click on Get started.
4. Choose between Keep my files (which keeps personal files but removes apps and settings) or Remove everything (which removes all files, apps, and settings).
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the reset process.
Use Windows Installation Media (for full format)
1. Create a bootable USB drive with the Windows 10/11 installation tool.
2. Restart your computer and boot from the USB drive.
3. When the Windows setup screen appears, select Install now.
4. Choose Custom: Install Windows only (advanced).
5. Select the partition you want to format and click Next to reinstall Windows.
