For the first time since India's independence, the Supreme Court has taken a bold leap toward greater transparency by publicly releasing the asset declarations of its judges — a historic move that could reshape public trust in the judiciary.

In a statement issued Monday evening, the Supreme Court revealed that asset details for 21 of the 33 current sitting judges have now been made available on its official website. These disclosures include information on both movable and immovable properties, whether held individually or jointly with spouses or dependents.

In a parallel development, the Court also confirmed that a three-member panel has completed its investigation into allegations against Justice Yashwant Varma of the Allahabad High Court. The committee submitted its report to Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna on Sunday. Justice Varma came under scrutiny after cash was reportedly discovered at his Delhi residence during an accidental fire on the night of March 14–15.
