Sri Padaya is probably the most worshiped and sacred mountain in the world. This is located in Sri Lanka bordering Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces in the districts of Ratnapura and Nuwara Eliya.

This is also known as Adam's Peak and is a 2,243 m (7,359 ft) tall conical mountain located in central Sri Lanka. It is well known for the Sri Pada, i.e., "sacred footprint", a 1.8 m (5 ft 11 in) rock formation near the summit, which in the Buddhist tradition is held to be the footprint of the Lord Buddha.

There are 3 Prominent and 3 Less Prominent and 2 Extremely Rare Paths in existence to climb Sri Pada and worship Lord Buddha's Footprint.

1. Hatton-Nallathanni Trail
2. Rathnapura-Sri Palabaddala Trail
3. Kuruwita-Erathna Adawikanda Trail
4. Moray Estate-Sandagalathenna Trail
5. Deraniyagala-Uda Maliboda Dikellakanda Trail
6. Mukkuwaththa-Dehenakanda Trail
7. Fishing Hut-Paradise Trail

However, we selected Deraniyagala-Uda Maliboda Dikellakanda Trail this time.
Deraniyagala – Ihala maliboda trail is one of the least traveled trails leading to Adam's peak. It is one of the toughest out of the trails leading to Sripada as well, simply because most of the trail is a though walk through the dense forest of peak wilderness sanctuary on a narrow footpath with rough underfoot conditions.

It also involves crossing several waterways, with the risk of flash floods. The first 8km is nowhere close to any human presence and this remoteness also adds to its difficulty.

Therefore it is not recommended to attempt this trail during off-season unless you really know what you are doing. Even during the season, one should be well prepared and most importantly, start early when attempting this trail.
