App after install has ALL function of Car Scanner PRO for short time (10-15 connections), so you can test all options. If you didn't see a sensor/function during free trial period, it will NOT appear in PRO version! Paid PRO version will not add more sensors than you get under free trial period.

After 15 connections free trial will end, options will be limited. You pay once for lifetime to get Car Scanner PRO (5 to 7 USD), or continue wtih free version (limitations + ads)

I used Torque Pro for many years, but this app seems better in many ways:
now works on Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (text only)

Car Scanner is a good alternative to Carly, EOBD Facile, Carista, FIXD, OBD Eleven, Torque PRO, etc.

Settings - Connection profile
Generic profile OBDII/EOBD shows only basic OBD2 sensors! Better find your vehicle (or most similar car/engine on same platform). Try several profiles, each has 50-400 parameters, listed in Settings/Sensors. App has profiles for most car brands (VW, AUDI, TOYOTA, RENAULT, HYUNDAI, KIA, SKODA, OPEL, FORD, VOLVO, etc). You can also create/import custom PIDs and relational PIDs, like in Torque PRO.

DTC error reading → short ABS/SRS error message appear on dash, this is normal

Many diesel profiles show DPF soot, but not all profiles - check before buying PRO. Car Scanner cannot force service DPF regeneration (except some brands / engines)

Which ELM327 adapter?
Android - any Bluetooth (or WiFI)
iPhone iOS - only BT 4.0 BLE (or WiFi)

I use iCar Vgate adapter - can be left in diagnostic port (turns off after 30 minutes).
I recommend iCar Vgate PRO 2S or Icar Vgate 2

Bluetooth adapters are better:
phone connects to ELM327 (for Car Scanner) and to car (for phone calls/music streaming, but music gets lower bitrate)
Bluetooth doesn't interrupt mobile data on phone

Wi-Fi is cumbersome:
enabling Wi-Fi will stop mobile data on smartphone
often you need to manually find ELM327 again

How to connect to ELM327:
Android - pair phone with elm327 adapter before launching Car Scanner. Then in Settings/Adapter ELM327 select elm327 (diagnostic port icon). Do NOT choose your car's Bluetooth - don't select My VW, My Toyota, My Opel !

iOS - pair phone with elm327 adapter directly in Car Scanner

Cheapest noname blue adapters are not reliable, may cause errors: www.carscanner.info/choosing-obdii-adapter

ALWAYS remove ELM327 after use from diagnostic port - keeps modules awake and drains 12V battery (or buy adapter with auto-off: Vgate, etc)
