EPICly - In Memory of Brian Bowers

Our dear friend Brian Bowers died recently, just a few months after his 50th Birthday. We had an incredibly beautiful celebration of life for Brian in Phoenix last weekend. I'd like to share some thoughts about why his life was so well lived—and why Brian was so well loved.

There is a Scripture that has struck me in recent weeks that applies so well to Brian’s life: Proverbs 3:3-4 “Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.”

“Let love and faithfulness never leave you.” If you knew Brian Bowers at all, you knew he was a man of love and faithfulness! And, as the verse promises, Brian won favor and a good name in the sight God and Man.”

As Kimberly and I were chatting about Brian’s life, about the deep impact of Brian and his bride of 27 years, Alecia, we were overwhelmed by memories and examples.

We finally narrowed it down to one word that really describes them both: “Generosity”

This video was filmed with Brian at an event called "Dude Challenge" that he led in Prescott, Arizona, a few years ago, and we wanted to share it today as a memorial to Brian's broad impact!

During my last face-to-face visit with Brian, I wrote him a letter, and this is how I closed it: It has been my joy to travel this journey with you. My only sadness is that we didn’t have more time together—but we wrote a great story, bro—and we will celebrate for eternity. Thanks for loving me and I love you. Jason”

Moments like these should prompt us all to ask ourselves, “What story am I writing today?”
