A gunman has been jailed following a shooting in Birmingham last year.
Desie Dalton-Byrne, of Chudleigh Road, Erdington, was jailed for five years and six months at Birmingham Crown Court last Thursday (6 March).
He pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, possession of a firearm, and possession of ammunition for a firearm without a certificate.
The 21-year-old was arrested in September last year in connection with a shooting in Chudleigh Road on 25 July last year.
A gun was fired at a group of people at around 6.30pm, although no one was hit. The motive of the shooting has never been revealed.
Following extensive CCTV enquiries, we recovered footage showing Dalton-Byrne fire the gun and flee the scene. The firearm was later located in a garden of an address in Low Wood Road.
Detective Inspector Matt Marston, from our Major Crime Unit, said: "Firearms and drugs play a significant role in criminality on our streets. It persistently erodes communities, ruining lives and blighting communities.
"As a result of this discovery, we’ve taken a deadly weapon off the streets, and an individual with direct access to it is behind bars.
“We hope this sentence will offer a deterrent to other criminals who act in this way.”
