This is the moment we arrested two teenagers on a stolen motorbike as they drove through Birmingham city centre.
Our CCTV and Force Contact staff guided officers to where the rider was heading after a call from a woman who’d seen the pair acting suspiciously near Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Two officers intercepted the teenagers near Moor Street Station, tackling them to the ground and arresting them. One officer suffered bruising when the bike was ridden into him, just before 4pm yesterday.
The motorbike had been stolen from Solihull around two hours earlier.
The pair, aged 17 and 16, remain in custody today on suspicion of attempted wounding of an officer and theft of the motorbike.
Insp Dan Thomas, whose city centre officers made the arrests, said: “This was absolutely fantastic collaborative work across our CCTV, Force Contact and city centre policing teams.
“I am really grateful to everyone involved, especially my two officers who intercepted the pair putting themselves in harm’s way, I am thankful that they were not more seriously injured.”
