Life's Cinematic Soundtrack: Hands Together

Ext. Street - Mid-Afternoon

Esme was on her way to the nearby seamstress shop to get one of her dresses mended. She makes her way inside the shop and looks for someone who can assist her. While talking to the seamstress she gets a call from Suki.

Esme: Honey! what’s up?
Suki: Hey honey, are you free tonight?
Esme: Tonight? Um, I’m doing paperwork. Why?
Suki: I see. I just wanted to go to this thing tonight and wondered if you wanna come with?
Esme: I can’t say for sure, but I’ll try to finish work early then I’ll follow. Is that okay?
Suki: Yeah, I guess so…
Esme: You sound disappointed. Awww, I’m sorry… I’ll follow after work.
Suki: Okay. I just figured you were free tonight.
Esme: No, actually I got caught up with a dress malfunction and my sched got delayed. But I’ll meet you there later. Where will it be?
Suki: I’ll send you the invite, love. Keep me posted later?
Esme: I will. I LOVE YOU!
Suki: LOVE YOU!

Esme ends the call and goes back to talking to the seamstress.

Seamstress: Come back tonight. Around 7:30pm. It should be done by then.
Esme: Okay, thank you so much!

Int. Apartment - Night

Esme is doing work on her projects and she gets a message from Suki.

Suki: Still working?
Esme: Almost done, honeyyy!
Suki: Yay! I sent you the invite. Did you get it?
Esme: Yup, I”m actually dressed up already. Just polishing my paperwork.
Suki: Awesome, love! Great job!
Esme: Thanks! Gimme 20mins and I’ll be there, love.

Int. Hallway

Inside the events hall, Suki is looking around. 20 minutes has passed and Esme hasn’t arrived yet. She keeps on looking toward the door. She looks to the door, then to her phone’s clock, then to her inbox, still nothing. She’s socializes for a while with other guests and a few acquaintances to get her distracted. But then she looks at the door again.

Finally, Esme arrives, soaking wet. Apparently, she forgot to bring an umbrella before she left the house. She looks for Suki in the crowd and finally sees her. She goes up to her.

Esme: I’m here.
Suki: (surprised) oh my god, Es!

Esme looks at Suki.

Esme: I forgot my umbrella.
Suki: Aww, Honey… let’s get you dried up.
Esme: I’m okay. I brought an extra dress.
Suki: Oh wow! Did you come prepared or was that a coincidence?
Esme: I dropped by the seamstress before coming here. That’s why I was late.
Suki: Ah, I see. I got worried you wouldn’t come.
Esme: I wouldn’t miss being with you for anything else, love.

Esme holds Suki’s hand. Suki smiles at her and lovingly holds Esme’s forearm. Esme looks at Suki and gives her a lingering kiss.

Esme: I’ll be right back. Don’t go anywhere, okay?
Suki: Okay. I’ll get us drinks.
After a few minutes, Esme comes back all dried up and with a new outfit. Suki sees her and is wowed by her.
Suki: Wait, Is that??!…
Esme: The dress I wore on our first date!
Suki: You never wore it since that night!
Esme: I wanted to surprise you! I was trying it on earlier today and it got a little ripped so I had it repaired as soon as I could.
Suki: I thought you didn't like that dress, that's why you never wore it again.

Esme was nodding in disagreement.

Esme: Our first date was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. This dress was your gift to me. I wanna wear it only on very special occasions. But then I thought… every moment I get to spend with you is a special occasion.

Suki gets teary-eyed.

Suki: I… I… I… Im speechless.

Suki inches closer to Esme. She holds her face and kisses her.

Esme: I LOVE YOU… I can’t explain it but I’m falling deeper in love with you, more and more.
Suki: I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.

The two hold hands, kiss each other’s hands and don’t let go. They smile as they move closer together.
