प्रसाद, पूजा के बाद वितरित करने वाले पदार्थ को कहते हैं। सामान्यतः यह कोई खाद्य पदार्थ होता है किंतु कभी-कभी कपड़े इत्यादि को भी प्रसाद के रूप में वितरित किया जाता है।हिन्दुओं का ऐसा मानना हैं कि पूजा के समय जब कोई खाद्य सामग्री देवी-देवताओं के समक्ष भोग स्वरूप प्रस्तुत की जाती हैं तो देवी-देवता उसे ग्रहण करते हैं,अगर खाने की वस्तु नहीं है जैसे कपड़े स्वर्ण, द्रव्य इत्यादि तो वे उसे स्वीकार करते हैं। अपने इष्टदेव को लगाए गए भोग को खाना या इस्तेमाल करना हिन्दू अपना परम सौभाग्य समझते हैं, अतः भगवान या देवी-देवताओं को अर्पित भोग को प्रसाद कहा जाता है।
