Safe Mode
Click Start
Type msconfig in the Star bar or under Run
Press Enter
Click on the Boot tab
Check Safe Boot
Click Apply
Click OK
Click Restart
Safe Mode - everything appears enlarged, to leave Safe Mode:
Click Start
Type msconfig in the Start bar or in Run
Press Enter
Click Boot tab
Uncheck Safe Boot
Click Apply
Click OK
Restart
Now you're logged back in as normal

In Safe Mode, Windows only starts up with only the basic required processes for starting your computer. While in Safe Mode it can be easier to download and configure software that wont work otherwise, run Windows diagnostic tools, complete a Windows Update and much more...
