Life Lessons by Children : Make Mistakes and Learn from them 😊

My 3 year old has always loved animals - amid the Covid social distancing norm, they were his first friends and the bond has only grown stronger... 🤝

Needless to say, his animal figurines are his daily companions - especially the lion family...

So, one such day, when he decided to remove all his animals, I asked him if he could classify them into farm animals and wild animals. After our recent trip to Japalouppe, I though this might be a fun activity with some learning... 🐶🐱🐭🐰🦊🐻🦁🐯🐮🐷

And, after a while, the classification looked like this:
Farm Animals: Cow, Fox, Lion 1, Sheep, Bear, Bull, Giraffe, Elephant, Panda, Cat, Horse, Peacock, Monkey 🐮🦊🦁🐩🐃🦒🐘🐼🐈🐎🦚🐵
Wild Animals: Lion 2, Tiger, Hyena, Lioness, Goat, Zebra, Donkey, Dog, Dinosaur, Camel, Hippo, Polar Bear 🦁🐯🐆🦓🦮🦕🐪🐻‍❄️

I sat pondering, why he would classify a dog and a goat under wild OR a lion, fox, bear, giraffe, elephant, panda, peacock or monkey as a farm animal! 🤨🤔

I saw the answer right before me!!! A few panchatantra stories we read had a dog/goat venturing into the forest and another story we read has a giraffe staying in a city, travelling in the bus with a fox, bear with the lion as the driver of the bus!!! Elephant, peacock and monkey he has seen in Kerela and Gujarat respectively!!! 😎🙃

So, he wasn't entirely wrong, was he??? But, I prodded further, farm animals are those you see around when we move around in the city easily, while wild animals stay only in the jungle - you wouldn't see them around... Do you want to relook? He did that and then shuffled a few here and there... 🥰😇

Who says you can't make mistakes??? In fact mistakes are the building blocks of learning!!! You can't learn without making a mistake!!! So, why aim for perfection, aim for learning, rest will eventually fall in place... 🫡
